…But God Part 3

Omnipotent or Impotent?

I am a grandfather and I really love my grandkids. They are so genuine. Kids don’t know enough to be fakes so they just say what they think. A Sunday school teacher, wanting to teach her students about how God is omnipotent, said to her children, “We have been learning about powerful kings and queens in Bible times. But, there is a higher power. Can anybody tell me what it is?” One child blurted out, “Aces!”

I love it! But there is a lesson to be learned about God being omnipotent (the power higher than kings and queens) and that will directly affect your life.

First, you must believe He can change things. SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT GOD IS IMPOTENT, NOT OMNIPOTENT. To believe that Jesus can and WILL do something is crucial.  Trusting that He really is OMNIPOTENT is so important to God, that He says it is impossible to please Him if you do not.

But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. [Heb 11:6 NKJV]

He does not like it if you do not trust Him. Why is that?

Imagine for a moment that your child had a life threatening disease and needed surgery, but you had no money.  Then your cousin came to you with all the money you needed, your child had the surgery and was healed.. Sometime later you were sick for months and could not work.  You could not make the payment on your house and it was being foreclosed.  That same cousin sold his car and some furniture to pay for back payments and you were able to keep your home.   What would he think of you if you said to your best friend a year later,” My cousin said he was coming for Christmas and bringing the turkey.  But I don’t know if he will really come.  I don’t trust him.”

That is what it is like when you act like God will not answer your prayers. It does not please Him.

Think of all the things He has done for you.  Think of all the times you have been in great need and called out to Him and He helped you.  We have no right to be faithless. He always has been, and always will be OMNIPOTENT.
